This will kick off the cheese making experience. It is not so complicated and one just needs to follow the techniques as instructions explain.

This kit served as my entry into cheese-making and I recommend it for the same. It has all that is needed to get started with a number of different hard and soft cheeses.

Bought this kit in Erie, PA at an emergency preparedness expo and have been making my own cheese for about 8 months now. While I did need to pick up a few things that weren't in the kit (big pot, wax, cheese board, mini fridge) the kit contained all the essentials.

I guess my only complaint would be that the kit contains a 50/50 mix of Thermophilic and Mesophilic bacteria and the Thermophilic is really only good for Parmesan. I would have liked more Mesophilic as there isn't enough to try out every recipe in the book.

This kit is a wonderful way for a beginner to get started making some delicious cheeses. I had never made cheese before I got this kit, and I have been able to make several types of cheese so far. I've had some failures, but mostly successes, and some of my cheeses have been far better than I expected I could do as a beginner!

Every year I hunt for something wonderful to give my beloved for XMas. He's usually disappointed--I can tell--so it's frustrating. In fact, try as I might, I usually end up buying him things that I like so that SOMEONE gets some joy from his presents! This year was different. I hunted all over, bought a few things, and ordered this cheese kit because I wanted to make cheese for myself. Well, I haven't been able to use your kit at all because he liked this gift--he really, really liked it! He's had great success with feta and is now working on longhorn-style cheese. If I'm ever going to get a try at it I'm going to have to buy myself a kit for Valentine's Day! Thank you for helping me give my hubby a fun Christmas!

I have always been cheesy...so to speak.

I went looking online for a cheese making kit and some tools and found my items on Amazon. I like to buy there because I am a Prime member and get free shipping. But, sometimes free shipping means paying a bit more for the product.

Someone sent me a Facebook link and that is how I found Cheesemakers. I went back to Amazon, ordered an Induction burner and some utensils and some other items, then came back here and ordered Mesophilic and Thermophilic, Citric Acid and a few other items I know I will need.

I have discovered how good homemade cottage cheese is as well as Ricotta. I will probably order the stuff I need for the Mozzarella cheese I want to do next, and also Farmhouse Cheddar.

I will make my own pizza dough and use my homemade Mozz on it along with my homemade Italian sausage and almost homemade pizza sauce.

Then I will have to explain to the doc why I gained all this weight.

It is all fun from here.

I have purchased two kits, the Hard Cheese and Mozzarella kit and found them very easy to follow. I have never made cheese before and your directions where easy to follow. Everyone has loved the cheeses and several want to buy your kits. Austin Home Brew is where we get them and they are doing a great job on getting people to try them out. Cheers for a job well done on the kit and finding the right people to sell your items.

Yippee!! Although when my grandson (age 5) and I made your mozzarella, we were very pleased with ourselves, I was very nervous about my farmstead cheddar. I took it (aged for 2 1/2 months) with me to my sisters house last weekend thinking if it was a flop we could just bury it in the woods and nobody would ever know. Well, my (your) cheese got raves. I was only allowed to bring home half the left-overs. Folks here will have to wait for the next batch. Thanks so much for making this so easy, so much fun, and so good. I now can not wait for this weekend so I can get busy making some more.

I've got a new hobby, CHEESEMAKING

I was astonished to get the hard cheese kit that I had ordered so quickly. It was perfect timing, too. A mid-morning mail delivery, had the house to myself, and before I knew it a batch of Monterey Jack was underway, and is currently drying on my kitchen counter. I can tell this hobby is going to nicely complement my beer brewing hobby, and I think my next batch will be the Farmhouse Cheddar, as that should be nice and sharp at cider pressing time.

I've been mulling getting into cheesemaking for awhile. I'd studied things out, collected my needed equipment, and just needed a few supplies to actually take the leap into the world of cheese. This little kit fit the bill. I could try a variety of cheeses and sample what I liked without overpaying on larger quantities of product I may never use. By the way, my first cheese turned out great!

I am a father of 5 children. I love doing things the old way. I do not know why I did not start making my own cheese years ago. I make my own jerky, grow my own veggies, make everything I eat from scratch I do not even buy biscuit mix or pancake mix. I love to cook. Only thing about this kit I would change is that the recipe book only has one recipe for the thermophilic culture. I would either put in another recipe or two for this culture or give 8 of the mesophilic culture and only 2 of the thermophilic. The only recipe for the thermophilic is a cheese that needs to be aged 10 months before usage. I will be replacing my starter press very soon as it does not do the job well but it does do the job. I enjoy making cheese and have 6 blocks already in my mini fridge and I got it for valentine's day from my wife. Can not wait to taste my cheddar cheese in a couple months and my neighbors and kids love the ricotta cheese I make. I also made some cream cheese and made a cheese cake from it. I will say that I get about a 3 pound block every time I make cheese, not the 2 pound block it says it makes.

LOVE!!!

My First Cheesemaking kit

I Received my first Cheesemaking kit last year and it's still lasting. My first time making Mozzarella came out perfect. With all of the supplied ingredients and tools, I was assured that I would never have to purchase cheese at the grocery anymore. plus it's fun making cheese. With this kit, I received everything to get started so I wasn't scrambling looking for rennet or citric acid all over the place. I was and I am still satisfied with this Cheesemaking kit. Plus the delivery was prompt!

I had a heck of a time finding something just the right size that was round to put on top of the cheese tp press it i finally found a tupperware round lid that fit inside the mold. That would be a nice addition to the kit. Otherwise I love it!!!

New England cheese in Texas

Just ordered your beginners cheese kit, I looked at a number of other sites and sources, but the reason I ordered from you is that your website is a fun and friendly site - very much so. Love your little cows and graphics. I am a transplanted New Englander (RI) down here to Texas, and since it was a nice, less than 90 day today - Yay - Fall in Texas - I decided to bring a bit more of New England down here. What better way than New England Cheeses??? J I want to learn the basics with your soft cheeses but my true love is the sharpest, most intense cheddars and other pungent cheeses. Anyhow, just wanted to say thanks and look forward to joining your family and hope to be ordering a lot more from you in the future.
