Really nice thermometer, easy to calibrate by just holding the nut on the back with pliers, dipping the stem in boiling water, and turning the dial to 100C / 212F. Temperature of ice water varies so much it's not useful for calibrating.

I used this thermometer in my oven for Thanksgiving dinner and it shattered, scattering broken glass onto my hot food. The description does say "oven safe" but do not trust it. The oven was oly set at 350 degrees, the thermometer was only used about 6 times for cheese and yogurt and it was never fully immersed in water.

Very nice thermometer, works great. Its amazing how much better a persons cheese turns out when you have a proper way to keep an eye on the temp! Im not able to clip it on the side of my cheese pot because it touches the side of the pot and gives me a false reading so it would be nice for me if the clip was designed to hold the bottom of the thermometer out a bit.

Keeping accurate temperatures is important in cheese making. This thermometer is long enough to not get lost in oversized pans and clips to the side of my pan.

This was a great birthday present this past year. Having the long stem makes for a more accurate picture of whats going on in my cheese.

I've owned this for years and it works great. It tells true and rarely need recalibration. I mostly use it for cheesemaking and the length makes it much easier to use than shorter thermometers. I'll occasionally stick it in a roast chicken (once I've taken the chicken OUT of the oven) and it works fine for checking the internal temperature of meat.

This is a very reliable and accurate thermometer. It is a reasonable price and excellent quality. I now have two in different length sizes! One is for two gallons and under and the other for 3 plus gallons.

Nearly wonderful!

This thermometer does everything that it says it does, but it does need recalibrating quite often. This is really no hardship with a medical thermometer as a yardstick, but you need to remember to do it quite regularly for accurate results. Otherwise it's wonderful!

You give a thermometer that goes to around 200 a bad review because it broke when you put it in your oven and ran it to 350. I hope for the sake of the people around you, you gave up cheesemaking.

Everything works like clockwork. The thermometer works great. The cultures work great. In fact I've already made cottage cheese. It came out great. The next thing I will need to order is a cheese form so I am able to produce a pressed cheese.

This thermometer works just the way it should. It's easy to calibrate and clips to the side of the pot. It is not intended for oven use. The dial only goes up to 220 degrees F. Glad to buy a product made in the USA.

Good, sleek, easy to read thermometer. Slightly too long or tall for a standard pot.

I'm new to cheesemaking and love this thermometer. I do small batches of milk products (1/2 to 1 gallon at a time) and use stainless steel Revereware pots...and this size of thermometer fits nicely in them. In getting used to the cheesemaking process, I have been klutzy at times and accidentally had the thermometer flying off into ice water or on the floor and miraculously it still works just fine. I particularly like how fast and seemingly accurate it is.

Works great! We went through several store bought cheep ones before buying this one. It's lasted lots longer than the others. If I'm using a shallow pot, like when warming milk for yogurt making, it's a bit unhandy to have it so long and I have to be careful not to let it fall out of the pot. I guess I need a shorter one as well. :)
