I have used the red wax a few times and love it! Especially with pepper jack cheese - the red pepper flakes look so nice with the beautiful red wax. I have had several compliments on this combination of red wax and pepper jack cheese. It has also been easy to use and I find the layers go on smoothly, the wax does not run and dries quickly so I can put on the next coat. I highly recommend the red wax and look forward to trying other colors.

Love this wax! I use a small crock pot for waxing my cheese and it melts good and then provides good coating on the cheese. A pound covers a lot of cheese, too!

Good price. Works as advertised. I gound the red wax to be kinda sticky and a pain to deal with. I perfer the black wax, which seems harder. I found that a small bowl lined with parchment paper works good to reclaim leftover wax.

It looks like enough for 4 blocks of cheese.

I melted it in a large stainless steel bowl and lined the bowl will foil.When it could to a solid, I crumpled the foil into a reusable package for the next batch.

My cheddar is now in a wine cooler at 54º, and that is just right for a wine cave storage! 10 months should be just about medium aging.

I bought this wax and the clear. Both worked well on my cheeses, but getting the plastic wrapping off of the cheese was incredibly annoying. Not sure if there is a trick to it, but if there is -- please share.

Having handled a lot of different kinds of waxes in chemical formulations over the years, I was pleasantly surprised at the way this Cheese Wax resisted the formation of pinholes when dipped. I'm a newcomer to the obsession of making cheese, but I'm already sold on using wax where appropriate over any other approach to aging. Get a setup with the proper surface temperatures so it's safe and you get perfect results every time! The thing about any kind of process, whether wine making, cheese making, or whatever, is to eliminate all the variables you can. Waxing eliminates a whole category of potential pitfalls!
