We're thrilled to have a partnership with local veterans
Growth in Our Community
In 2010, we had a rapid growth spurt in our business. This was great, but we didn't know how long it would last and we didn't have enough staff to keep up with our orders.
How it Began
We began brainstorming and heard of a program where businesses could contract with their local veteran’s center to provide jobs for their work group. We met with one of the Vocational Specialists- Tom Haskell to evaluate our suitability for this program. Tom took some of our kits and other products and did a cost analysis to determine whether the veterans could do the work for us at a competitive price. They could and thus began our partnership with local veterans at the V.A. Healthcare Center in Leeds, Massachusetts.
A Strong partnership
The veterans were able to help us through our crisis and it worked out so well that we decided to continue having them assemble our kits. Gradually, through the years, we added to their responsibilities and now they are a very important part of our business.
Success All Around
We owe a great deal of our success as a business to the help of a VA program called the
Compensated Work Therapy Workshop. All around the country, this program provides jobs for veterans and help for businesses like ours.
There are approximately 120,000 veterans in the area of western Massachusetts where our business is located. They are all served by the Veterans Affairs Central Western Massachusetts Healthcare Center in Leeds, Massachusetts.
